Healthy Tasty Snack Choices - Don't Starve Yourself
Well you’ve heard it all before. Cut out the junk food and step up the exercise and you’ll lose weight. It definitely works if you can do it but some of us do not have the will power needed all the time. So I’ve learned instead of laying out strict guidelines to follow I make some less demanding choices.
First of all quit looking in the mirror and telling yourself how fat you look and telling yourself how much weight you need to lose. Talk nice to yourself and with positive words that will get the point across but in a much nicer way. How about ” I’m going to make better choices for my meals and snacks so I can be healthier. The healthier I eat, the more wonderful I will feel and be”. Now isn’t that nicer?
Here are three snacks I’ve begun eating in place of alot of sweets. I love Red Delicious apples, cut in slices and then I take a spoonful of peanut butter to spread on each slice. I’ve been using the Smart Balance Omega Natural Peanut Butter….it’s delicious. Very filling and satisfying.
Next…..Celery with either Peanut Butter, Plain Cream Cheese or Strawberry Cream Cheese. Snacks with crunch are the best.
Strawberry Banana & Flaxseed Smoothie…..Use 1/2 to whole banana, 1/2 cup of frozen unsweetened strawberries, 1& 1/2 cups of skim milk or light soy milk, 2 tablespoons of flaxseed and blend it all in a blender until smooth. You can be creative and use what ever fruit you like !
Everyone of the above snacks are much lower in calories & sugar than a piece of cake, doughnut or ice cream.
It’s all about being a little more selective and aware of what you put into your body. Start with the above choices and you just might find that it sets off a chain reaction of making more healthier choices at your meal time.

Great article. I did just as you mentioned. I started eating a cup of yogurt instead of sugar and calorie loaded ice cream for dessert. Then I gave up all animal products and switched to a pear or grapes for my dessert.
Motivation comes from within. I found that as I grew spiritually, I started becoming more aware of what I did each day. If I only buy healthy things at the store, I will only have healthy things at home to eat.
I live out in the country so there are no close by places to tempt me with sweets or other unhealthy products.
